New Orleans Jazz Fest 2008

Hello Everyone,

There is not much to say except that this years Jazz Fest was the best ever. Just like all the previous Jazz Fests! This year was notable for the first annual run of the Krewe de Screw and it was a great success. Thanks to all the Screw Balls for making the fun non-stop. I could go on for pages talking about how great it was to see everyone but my fingers, and your eyes, are already tired. We will keep it short with a shout-out to the virgins Thomas, Matt and Rob (John). These three neophytes melded in just like seasoned veterans. There was no bitching, whining or crying just full fledged running with the big dogs. See yall next year boys ie…. Get out while you still can.

The Mardi Gras Indians "Wild Magnolias" Playing with Widespread Panic.

Here is a video from a Tribute to Tuba Fats.

Meli and I did a Hash race on Thursday after the fest with the New Orleans Voodoo Hashers. They put on a Kentucky derby Hash complete with mint juleps and derby pie. It was a total blast!

When ya Gotta Go......

Afterwards, we were the lucky guests at a delicious Crawfish boil courtesy of Dominick. Thanks Bro!

The cute and happy couple!

Jazz Fest weather was perfect. The right amount of sun and the right amount of rain to cool us off!

A lot of people have been asking how N.O. is doing and I am glad to say that, in my opinion, it looks to be coming back strong……in parts. The Quarter, CBD, Uptown and especially Magazine Street are totally booming. I was very surprised, no evidence of recession there. However, the periphery of the city is still a mess and will probably remain so. It is clear that no big federal bail out is coming and in the long run that does have its benefits. The parts of the city that are doing well are doing so because they are market driven and not falsely inflated by an infusion of cash…..Thanks FEMA!

We started and ended at Cooter Brown's. The best oysters in the USA hands down!
