The Dair Mar Elia

I finally got off my ass today and ventured out for a little sight seeing. This proves that, even in Mosul, life is out there waiting to be explored! We are fortunate to have a very excellent Chaplain here at the 86th CSH. Chaplain Bailey regularly takes tours over to Camp Marez, which is on the other side of the airfield, to see The Dair Mar Elia known in English as Saint Elijah's Monastery. Here are a few of my pics and one or two plagiarized photos as well. Also, a link to an NPR article and audio file which does a lot better than I could in giving some history of the Monastery.

It was a very enjoyable trip!
